Board Of Education Jobs New York
Admittance to the New York State Bar Association requires dedication and hard work over an extended period of time. It takes a number of years to fulfill the educational and employment requirements. A person who wants to become a licensed attorney in New York must be at least 21 years old. Applications are reviewed and approved by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court to ensure the applicant is fit to practice law in New York.
Academic and Work Requirements for New York Bar Association Applicants
Applicants need to fulfill at least one of the four educational requirements to be a lawyer in New York. Graduate and receive a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-approved law school. Alternatively, complete one full year of study at an ABA-approved law school and work at a New York law firm during a four year period under the supervision of an attorney licensed to practice law in New York.
Receiving a Juris Doctorate from a non ABA-approved law school and practicing law in another state within five of the last seven years is another way to fulfill the educational requirement. Graduating from a law school in a foreign country that has a course of study equivalent to an ABA-approved law school also satisfies the educational requirement.
